please assist after buying my bakkie and inspecting it properley i have issue.the so-called long range tank is two standard 60 liter tanks with inertia feed hose.
to assist with description the second tank is un passengers side further back than original tank with slight angle to it.there is a hose running from the side of main tank under prop and connected to spare tank.ontop of spare is house returning for overflow and vacuum.
my concern:the prop snaps channeling between both tanks ripping hose and emptying 120 liters.the gauge only reading original tank since cross flow uncontrolled.
what do you recommend ,any advice very appreciated.

Re: HELP WITH DIESEL TANKS
Alan, is it possible to post a picture of this fuel tank setup so we can see exactly what you've got? I agree the pipe beneath the propshaft idea does not sound healthy, as it could get snagged and ripped off on something and leave both tanks dry.
My Hilux also have 2 std Hilux tanks fitted, with a connecting pipe, but the connections is done in such a way that it does not get in harms way.

Big Al
I have seen this setup before, and also wondered about the possible damages to the pipe, not by the prop so much, as if it snaps(not a regular thing) and bounces around, the chance of it making a whole in the tank is just as likely.
I worry about branches ect..
Please keep us up to date if you find any good solutions as it's always good to know.

You can speak to Cris at R&D Offroad in Brackenfell - a chap who KNOWS Hilux and KZ-TE by heart! He also "wrote the book" so to speak, on long range tanks, and I'm sure would be able to assist. On top of that, his rates are reasonable and he is mighty friendly to boot!

P.S. Is it possible to get some more photos of the tank setup, as I have heard of such, but never seen them in the flesh.
Thanks!
