waeco CF 50 problems
Hi guys
Please help me with my Fridge.
I bought a Waeco CF 50 fridge at the end of last year
Have used it a few times and found there was a problem.
For some reason every now and again and with no pattern it stops working and the error light starts blinking. You have to unplug ir and plug in again and then it works.
Took it back to outdoor warehose and they gave me a new one, put it in yesterday and it does the same thing!
Very frustrated!
Do any of you know why?
Anyone with similar problems?

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
Yes I had a similar thought.
on the oldone it was only on 12V but this one it happens on 220v as well.
I have redone all of the connections on vehicle wiring so will see if this helps.
It also occurs when the vehicle is running so there should be plenty volts available?

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
Luke, how thick/thin are the wires from the battery to the fridge? If too thin, you will get a voltage drop. Not sure what current this draws, but 2.5mm or better still 4mm is the minimum gauge you should use, depending on how long the wire is.

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
yes the red error lights flashes when this happens.
FD its standard household wire,I used earth wire for negative and red for positive. Did this specifically because its thicker than twin flew etc.
If it was a voltage drop problem wouldnt it do it all of the time and not just now and again?
also why then did it do it off of mains supply?

Luke, Q?
Does your fridge have sufficient ventilation?
The corners (both sides) where the comperssor vents are, may not be covered or bags packed around the in ANY way!

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
yip its in the back of the bakkie and i try and make sure nothing is packed next to it.
good point though mark ill monitor this and see if when it happens next how the ventilation is.
Still last time it happened in my kitchen standing free of anything plugged into 220 ?

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
Mine did the same once, then I packed in some beers and the light stopped flickering
Have you tried this yet, Luke?
No serious.....it really did, but I think it was just a setting on the fridge, or insufficient ventilation or something.

Re: waeco CF 50 problems

Number of flashes Error
1) Low battery protection cut-out activated. (Factory default 10.4V but can be changed)
2) Fan current overload. (Has exceeded 1A)
3) Motor start failure. (Rotor blocked or refrigerant differential pressure >5 bar)
4) Minimum motor speed of 1850 rpm not achieved. (The refrigeration system is too heavily loaded)
5) Thermal cut-out of electronic controller. (Ambient temperature is too high or refrigeration system is too heavily loaded)

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
Het jy die yskas nou al in n ander voertuig geplug met die gewone draad? Het hy dieselfde gemaak?

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
It did it plugged into 220V !!!!!!!!!
So took it back yestarday again and got my 3rd one!
While I was there bought the national Luna dual battery kit and installed that.
Fridge is now wired direct to the 2nd battery and it is sitting next to it!
Busy testing now will post the results.

Re: waeco CF 50 problems
So far.....SO GOOD!
Lesson learned, get a dual battery system!
Not sure if its solved because of the wiring being shorter or less fluctation of voltage on dual battery or what but seems to be working lekker. Sitting at -18 outside work as we speak!
Want to test it for longer before I trust it on a botswana trip etc.
