Horrible for 4x4....; too soft, side walls damage easily

I swapped mine out for Firestone ATX, best move I ever made

They where standard issue on the Jeep Cherokees we lost 2 while going through the Richtersveld a few years ago due to sidewall damage. Of all the vechiles on the trip we where to only car to lose 2 tires. But for on-road use they are really good. The two we did not lose on that trip lasted for 75 000 km.

So Pieter should get a spare set of rims and have a 2nd set of wheels for everyday use, so saving the tread on the off-roaders. Swopping wheels over is no big deal .... half an hour tops, and you're ready for the rough.

Hi there.

I had goodyear Wranglers on when i bought my Lux just over a year ago, i found that once they have about 50% thread left, they realy start to squeal on any corners on tar, especially slow tight corners.
Ive recently (after much deliberation) fitted a set of BF Goodrich A/T's and i must say was very worried about road noise. I am very pleased to say they are quiet on the road and awsome on the sand. They have a 3 ply wall which will be perfect for rocky hard terrain. Ive just returned from Namibia 2 weeks ago, spent 3 weeks there.took a week from CT to Swakopmund and then spent 2 weeks in Swakop.Awsome place. I let down the tyre pressure to 1.4 when i got there and drove like that for the 2 weeks, 4x4 every day on the beaches fishing. We spent a few days driving the dunes, in and around Swakop, and then let the tyres down to .8 bar. I was very impressed with the handling and excellent traction they deliver.
I strongly recomend them as a 4x4 tyre.

BF Goodrich A/T's
Ja dankie Ian, sorry dit was die bande waarvan die ou by Hi-Q gepraat het en nie bridgstones nie. Hulle prys is ongelukkig net bo my vuurmaak plek teen R1600 elk.

So far my Kumho 33 MTR's are doing great... it's early days though... just remember large tyres will influence how quickly the petrol needle drops!

Wonder if this has anything to do with 'driver' error?

Thys what tyres are you using for the over-land trip?

Kry ook n prys by Chris op Maxxis by R&D offroad.

My prys was R1450 per band

Ek nou al 5 4x4 roetes gery met myne, sand, klip, modder the works! Beste band ooit volgends my! So dit maak hom baie sterker as enige ander band!

Ian, you're my hero.... I so want to tackle a trip like this, but it seems fate never affords me the opportunity.

But for the wranglers, their tread seems very shallow. Does this not lead to having to change tyres more often.

Whats the latest from those using Wrangler AT / SA's? Still happy with them?
Please note I am looking for info only on the AT / SA and not other wranglers.
