Swing arm spare wheel carrier/s

Post by Diff »

Go for one only. If the two wheels stick out beyond the sides of the vehicle, you can be ticketed for this.

As Eric says, go for one only. Two will stick out the side of the vehicle and the amount of weight that far bebind the rear axle can not be good. It might look cool, but in the field it is impractical. Only Land Cruisers ride around with twin spare wheels on the back..

Fit one sparewheel and take an extra loose tyre on a long trip that you can squeeze in somewhere, or fit Goodyear MTR's so you won't need all the spares.
Like Thys says, if you fit two sparewheels you are advertising your poor driving ability.

Kan iemand my dalk se of daar 'n spesefieke rede is hiervoor of nie. Ek sal dink dat dit meer jou blindekol sal beinvloed as dit links sit as aan die regter kan. So sal dit beter wees links of regs?

I've also noticed that the tendancy is to mount it to the left. However I also feel that it is better to the right, because during normal driving (forward) the two side mirrors and centre mirror is all you use ... one never really looks backward out the window. But if you do like when checking while changing lanes, or reversing out of a n angled parking, that's when one looks back through the rear window and I feel that with the spare mounted to the left obstructs vision more than if it were RHS mounted. But that's just me .... I might be wrong.

Hi Andy,

Re: Swing arm spare wheel carrier/s

Lyk my self-maak is in baie gevalle die enigste keuse.
