Powerbrake Pads - Reds or Blacks

Post by climbingmike »

Hello All

I am looking at putting a set of Powerbrake disks and pads on my Mk6 Hilux and there are 2 pad options, listed below;

Bendix Ultimate brake pads = R1,950.40 - Blacks
Powerbrake PB05 brake pads = R3,650.10 - Reds

Has any one got either of these and know if the reds are worth the extra money? Its a massive difference in price and I cant believe they are so much better to warrant the price, but I may be wrong.

Blacks http://www.powerbrake.co.za/Bendix_Ulti ... b1482u.htm
Reds http://www.powerbrake.co.za/Powerbrake_ ... b05-za.htm

Many thanks
MIke

Hi Mike.
The red pads would be a waste of money if you do normal driving and all that you need is improved braking. I used the Bendix Ultimate brake pads and they work perfectly.

The reds are more for extreme braking performance where you expect the pads to get very very hot like when pulling a heavy trailer through mountain passes or frequent repeated high speed braking.

The Bendix pads for your bakkie are even cheaper - R1719.25.
