LED Light Bar

Post by Odin »

Hi Guys
I have bought myself a 800mm 180W LED light bar that i wanted to fit to my New 2009 Hilux 4.0 v6 Nudge bar.
After I bought this LED Light I found out that they are now illegal :blackeye: .
Can someone please tell me if they are illegal if you have them on a seperate switch and only use them for offroad :?: .
I have heard off people being pulled over and given a R2000 fine because of the LED light bar :irate: .

Unfortunately, it appears you heard correctly. Something also to do with minimum height mountings as well as may not be mounted in the centre of vehicle. Outdate laws perhaps, but that is how things currently stand.

Morning, it has always been illegal, the law has always stated that your vehicles lights may not cross the center line of the vehicle.

Although illegal IRO the strict letter of the law, if it is on a completely separate switch and cannot be operated in connection with the normal driving lights (dip or bright) and if it is covered for public road use, then I think that most authorities will excuse it. Just my opinion.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
