Fj cruiser nitro charger to SFA

Post by Sven »

Was just wondering after seeing a photo of a Toyota Tacoma with old man emus, what is the possibility of using a nitro charger style shock with coil suspension from a Tacoma/fj cruiser and one or 2 leaf springs for the axles for stability on the SFA, obviously there would need to be some shock mount modification but could this not be a suspension option on a SFA?

It's possible of course, but is it advisable?

The spring rate of a suspension system is calculated around the weight of that particular vehicle and the Tacoma as well as the FJ are considerably heavier, especially if the donor vehicle was a diesel. This of course includes the shocks, whose damping rate is similarly matched. You might well find after doing it that you have a very hard suspension with suspension travel (and thus articulation) being severely hindered because of the lighter vehicle weight not being able to deflect the springs sufficiently.

That's just my opinion. :winkx:
