Good morning all,

Which Steve Auto Clinic would you recommend to do my 3.0 d4d Hilux?

I phoned Vanderbijlpark branch an got good pricing for the uni chip with dyno and 1.8mm steal free flow from turbo 76mm till the first box (No cat) and then from there 63mm out.

All i want to know who know's these bakkies best from there branches?

Het myne daar gedoen, prys is goed maar ek dink nie hulle weet regtig hoe om hom te map nie, het hom 2 keer terug gevat en is die derde keer Centurion toe om te remap. Die bakkie het lekker geloop nadat Vanderbijl hom gestel het, maar hy het injector noise gehad wat jy nie sal glo nie, Centurion het hom beter gestel gekry, so die injector noise is nou weg, maar hy loop nie meer so lekker nie. So ek dink dit is bietjie veiliger, aangesien injectors een helse prys kos as hulle oppak.
Het ook die exhaust gedoen, maar volgens my raas hy te veel, so ek dink daaraan om die standaard een weer terug te sit.

Het hulle vir jou ook die gewone staal pyp op gesit of stainless?

Wat se geraas maak die pyp? Blaas geraas?

Ek soek juis die manne wat hom reg sal stel in veilige aspekte. Wil nie injectors beskadig nie.

Gewone staal, spyt ek het nie eerder die wildcat gevat nie.
Die geraas, man dis moeilik om te beskryf, eerstens is die engine noise meer as gevolg van die geut (76mm) wat hul vir die eerste stuk gebruik, dit loop net tot onder die bakkie en reduce dan na dunner.
Wanneer die enjin idle klink daai gedeelte letterlik soos tappet noise. Die klank klink maar dieselfde as jy ry, maar raak 'n baie dieper klank as jy hom vloor.
Met wat ek ondervind het en met my bietjie kennis van diesels, is daai map van hulle bietjie gevaarlik. Maar die ander mense se pryse is heelwat duurder.
Met die dat ek weer my standaard exhaust gaan terug sit ( ge decat as hy een het ) sal my seker 'n beter idee gee hoeveel verskil die exhaust regtig maak.

Jys welkom om deur te kom petoors toe en die ding kom toets en luister. Eks die volgende 2 dae by die huis. Ry donderdag op 'n trippie.

a guy riding a quad is worried about exhaust noise ?

ek gebruik Dastec se "plug & play" chip, hy kom klaar gemap, dis nie nodig om te dyno nie en ek het nog geen probleme gehad nie, van hulle is al vier jaar terug ingesit. die exhaust kan jy self mee eksperimenteer totdat jy tevrede is, maar ek vind die standaard een is heeltemal goed

@Jeepie, the quads not that loud. Only about 130db. Bwhahahahahaha.

It can make a noise, but need to sound nice atleast. Not like he said a tappet tipe of noise.

@Hoppie, so hulle nog nooit jou chip getune of iets van jy hom in gesit het nie?

The PnP chip has a tune that Dastek has developed from hundreds of tunes they have done. It is available from Dastek and we have found them to deliver 10-15% more power on the wheels without any limp mode problems. You can get your chip custom tuned later for more power though if you want.....

I leave them as is, it has a good balance between power, reliability and economy, if you re-tune for power, you'll lose out on the other two.

And the costing for these plug an d play"s?

The other thing, is the unichip also a plug and play that they tune? And if plugged out or battery dies does it lose it's tuning data?

Unichip is plug a play, het ook 'n selektor met 5 verstellings ingesit.

Lees nou net van n dastek chip wat moontlik moet remap word. Verloor hy sy data miskien in sekere gevalle?

Jitte ek is stadig vandag.

So SAC gebruik dan ook die Dastek UNIchip maar hulle stel net an hom sodra hulle hom in gesit het.

Typically if you are changing exhaust a custom tune would be best. But for the money spent with the downpipe in my opinion its not worth it for the gains.

A PnP chip would typically retail at +-R5500 inc vat and a hard wired chip +-R4000inc vat. Do the decat! It is free power so to speak and leave the exhaust stock. The chip is the same but you are paying for the functionality of being able to plug and unplug which is nice if your vehicle is under warranty. Get hold of Awie at Dastek Diesel.
