Check my post on”d4dauto chipped 76mm exhaust”. I removed the pipe – 4 bolts- put it in a vice and drilled it out, then murred the rest out with a piece of flat bar. Takes a bit of time but is well worth it.

Vraag
Waarom is dit eerstens as standaard toerusting ingesit?
Wat is die doel van die CAT ?

Hmmm.

Supa Quick het my R350 gevra.

have two cats, one black, they say its good luck, and the other a pursion, at least we suspect!!
got the suspected pursion from the SPCA
and also have two boerboels!!
the dogs chase all other cats except our own cats!!
they feed on wiskers friskies, rats and birds that they catch!! :lmao:

CATs in our vehicles, are there to remove dangerouse gases, dangerouse to us and to the enviroment
yep, unleded fuel is worst for humans and the enviroment then leaded fuel
however once "scrapped" clean by the CATs, then it becomes cleaner
in some highly poluted places on our planet the air coming out the cars is cleaner then the air going in!!
now that scrapping is where the big restrictions come in
as those conversters have thousands of tinny holes and the air gets forces through those holes to scrape the air molocules clean!!

the energy that the piston carrys on the exhaust stroke is wasted on forcing the burned bad gasses through the CATs
block a vehicles exhaust, and it will eventually stall!!
if the system restriction is removed then less energy is wasted in pushing out the gasses, and that energy better used to propel the vehicle forward!! as is the case with all free flowing systems

now the same guys across the big blue pond get their panties in a big knot every time I mention that my jeep does not have Feelines!! and performs better and has no error codes!!
have even been threatened with the bad word!! BAN!! :laugh2:

some vehicles will bring up error codes, however know that mini cats/cat foolers are available, know that wild cat have them as do others!!

how bad are those gases if they are not scraped clean!!
some say they can couz cancer in humans, and bad for the enviroment!!
as for the cancer dont know, me not a Dr, and the exhaust is on the outside of my car!!
as for the enviroment, well all the trees in my yard have not died, and are a nice healthy green!! grass wont stop growing, and if the garden service does not return soon then i will have to use my Jeep to go look for my dogs!!

further believe that those cats have a life span, before they burn through and even come apart!!

save our cats!! :cooldude:

I ended up looking for the cat on mine, did not find one, so I headed to the exhaust guys, who also confirmed, there is no cat. According to them the early model Vigos did not have them factory fitted

Correct.

Repulse had a cat-pendectomy just before holiday. Huge difference in performance.
To much restriction in the cat can damage the turbo as it can cause too much pressure on the wrong side of the turbo with subsequent increase in heat.

Maybe just a correction. A petrol engine has a catalytic converter that has a porous ceramic core coated with platinum that removes carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust gases.

A diesel engine has a Diesel Particulate Filter that filters out the soot (that we see as the smoke) coming out of the exhaust. With modern diesel engines the injection timing, pulses and duration can be controlled so well that the engines produce very little soot. The DPF is there to remove the remainder. They were fitted to meet the very stingent emissions standards in Europe and the USA particularly California.

I also discovered that my 3lt D4D does not have the DPF fitted. It does not smoke.
