2inch lift or more

Post by Jack14009 »

Hey guys still pretty new to the 4x4
I got a 1999 Extra cab hilux on 31" muds
Wanting to lift it by atleast 2inches without getting new suspension
I heard you can use spacers and shackles or something
Is it shackles only do the back suspension and spacers do the front
As you can I wouldn't have a clue
and any help would be much appreciated

Thats right mate .Some spacers at the front . Te spacers should level it out . I would start with just the spacers at the front . See what it looks like and then do shackles at the back if need be.

Take the time to read into the maximum lift you can do without having constant problems with your CV joints. Not me personally, but many guys report having issues with CV joints when lifting too much as the angle at the joint increases beyond spec.

If it's just so you can fit slightly bigger tyres why not lift the cab. Keep your cv's straight as you can and the centre of gravity low.

31's are more than enough for most off road applications - I've been doing this for more years than I care to remember and I still run on 31's. Your vehicle drive train will be happier with 31's and you're less likely to break something, fitting bigger wheels bring with it a whole host of resulting issues. So unless you're doing some really serious stuff and have the money to burn on half-shafts, CV's, gear boxes, diffs etc., stay with 31's. :winkx:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
