More RELIABLE oomph for a 2700i Lux - What's best??

Post by petri oosthuizen »

I'm asking lots af advise in here.

What mods seem to be the best way to enchance a 2700i Hilux's performance, with the following in mind?:

1) NO engine mods, like in removing even a single bolt from the engine
2) NO chips

............how good does a freeflow work on this engine, and which is best??

............is there some fine tuning that I can look at, like a MAF sensor or something, etc etc??

............. who is considered the Hilux Whisperer in Gauteng/Free State areas??

I'm happy with it as is - but just a leetle beet more power is always welcome. But I do'nt want to compromise on current torque characteristics, and reliability is obviously NO 1 priority.

Thanks - again!!

LOS hom soos hy is .... :mocking: :mocking:

Petri that is simply the best combination for just enough (well almost enough) power, decent fuel economy, and a 1 ton load capcity, and the earodynamics of a brick.

Decent driving in town, 115km/h on the open road and we got 8,5 km/l last year.

BUT, put foot and she gets thirsty ....

Oom Petri, just a freeflow doesnt really do anything other than sound good, i fitted one to each 3 2.7's i had/have those bakkies just leave them standard and stick to 30" tyres for best performance.

Understand wanting to keep it standard. That said my 1999 2.7 started losing power on 450 000, after getting the diagnosis (running lean), I had SAC chip it. At that stage it was just the chip, and it was running smoothly again.
Had the head gas flowed and the other stage 2 conversions done by SAC at 525 000.
My Hilux is close to 600 000, and still runs beautifully!
The chip and SAC conversion was well worth it, just in driveability terms. So much acceleration in 5th gear! What a pleasure, and I am using the 31" tyres too.
Magic engines!!

Sell it and buy a 3L D4D... better fuel consumption and better performance stock standard.

Petri,

Uit my limited race-car experience, jy gaan op 'n petrol engine max 7kw gain. As jy chip, freeflow en head doen. Dis N/A.

Best bet is los hom soos hy is of doen 'n engine transplant as jy meer krag soek.

Thanks Guys

Nee wat, ek los dit net so.

Ek verloor sommer 7kg gewig, = 7 kW gained :dance1:

Petri,

Koop 'n ekstra pak geduld?

Ook so gedink Louis - groot pel Herman is daar by Diesel Electric.

Ek like dit nogal baie.
