Cruise Control Hilux 2.7 IFS

Post by Jackal »

Is it possible to fit cruise control to a Hilux 2002 2.7 IFS 4x4? If so are there factory fitted or after-market options and how much does it cost?

just fitted a cruise control to the ETIOS.

also have one in the 2,5 D-4D (same type)

so YES, it is possible.

Cost about R7k for the original Toyota unit, about R5,5k for the aftermarket unit - still fitted BY TOYOTA as part of the pre-delivery.

George sorry for the late reply - we were away on holiday. :)

These vehicles are now all "fly by wire" - no more accelerator cables. In fact, there is a BIG plug with a LOT of wires that plug onto the pedal mechanism. This plug is unclipped and the cruise control clips in here. Thats about it !

During our 7 000 km trip I used the cruise control in Elders A LOT. Such a pleasure to cruise at a constant speed on the long roads. Makes for a much more relaxing ride. and when you enter a lower speed zone, bring the speed down and engage the cruise control - no speed fines.

Even the Etios works nicely with the cruise control. :)

Hi guys it's possible to put a cruise control in any vehicle. I've been retro fitting cruise controls for almost 12 Years now. Should you need more info you can contact me at afinstallers@vodamail.co.za

My 3.0 KZTE has cruise control. It was already in when I bought the car and looks like an aftermarket thing. Works great!

Unless your 2.7 is strong enough and not losing speed on up hills, i dont think it is practical. When your speed goes down and you haven't got the kw to keep it there, then it will swich the speedo cruise off and your fuel consumption will increase.
