Mitch

Some advice, a wire brush cup on a baby angle grinder requires less elbow grease then the one on a drill and makes the end product more shiny too. ;) But the throttle body is normally make of much softer Aluminium and will damage with the brush but acid based GP cleaner like the ones used to remove cement and grout will work nice to clean the throttle body, but strip it down so the rubber parts of the throttle damper is not damaged

The extra holes like the one there next to the throttle positioning switch and the one at the back where you now have the blank off plate can be closed up neatly by using welsh plugs obtainable from most spare shops.

More' Mitch...

Is the whole wiring loom still in tact(not cut)??... if it is, then I would suggest you order a new universal wiring loom from Dicktator, else you may well run into trouble with wires that are cut too short, and the last thing you want is multiple solder joints/joins on the same wire... the less joins the better... less chance of elec faults!

Image

Oh and you still need an igniter box... Dicktator makes a very nice looking one, for about R500...

Image

Read more about it here: http://www.dicktator.co.za/ignitermodules.html

It's not a must that you buy a Dicktator one, there are many others on the market that will work 100%, a generic TP100 will cost around about R250... but the Dickie one just looks the part...

Just be carefull with the surfaces where the gaskets go, i.e between the two halfs of the manifolds, trottle body to top intake half and bottom intake half to head.

The cleaning is the hard part, the rest will get easier as you install, try to get the Ecu harness through the firewall before you start bolting on the the intake manifold. The "1 piston thing" you describe is just the programming of the Ecu, here you find plenty solutions for that.

It's as simple as selecting the right cylinders on the software, when doing the initial setup...

Mitch, yes u can... to get the engine up and running, but you will have to dyno it... sooner rather than later... altitude alone will mean that Rich and my map won't be 100% for your engine, you could always ask one of the Joburg based guys for a copy of there map, like Big D or maybe Cassie(actually I think he has a 22R), well one of them... will be closer than a Cape Town based map! Street dyno'ing will never be as accurate as a dyno, I managed to get 84kw by street dyno'ing, a proper dyno brought that to 93kw!

Yes, it will be fine! If you intended move to CT permanently, then I would consider a re-dyno at sea level, but if u only coming down to the coast on holiday, then it will be fine!

Post by franco »

Hi

Skakel gerus die mense by spittrinics hul was baie behulp saam.
Jul kan ook die kit op hul web werf sien.

That kind of power from a 4Y???
My van has 484 000kms on the clock and is struggeling to turn the 33s. Do you guys think I should get an import 4Y with EFI rather than taking on a 7MGE convertion?

I can't wait to see your more, Mitch!

Difficult one.

I have a Fong Kong 4y + EFI setup + 5.29:1 Diff ratios and 31" tyres. The bakkie pulls amazing. (Ja, I know, I will have to grow up and drive "normal" again sometime.) But I don't know if standard diffs (4.88:1) and EFI will be able to turn the 33" tyres that effectively.

My reasons for staying with the 4y were due to reliability and availability of parts - main focus overlanding. EFI was done in an attempt to try and better the fuel consumption.

John, the engine importers will usually pull one off an 3y for you. Your closest place is probably Boston japtech in Springs.
