Ek het gewonder of ons nie ’n nota kan maak oor wie se kar hoeveel km’s op het nie.
Maar aangesien km’s elke dag verander, wat van jy se net wat is jou volgende diens? (Ek sal hierdie op-to-date probeer hou)

1) Berend - berendelbrecht - 560 000km. 1998 2.4 Petrol DC 4x4 Limited edition
Now with 3l 7MGE since 317000km, at the moment on 560 000km. in everyday use.

2) Trevor AKA hi-hilux 539839 - 87' hiliux no diff or gearbox noise,

3) Werner AKA Borntofish - 424349, 86 Hilux Currently 0n 424349, Motor died on 419800 never been overhauled. Now chucking along on a Korean 4y

4) Stefan AKA Wanabe n Supra - 415000 , 1996 Hilux lwb 1.8 staan op 415000 km engine oorgedoen op 378000km

5) Pieter AKA pietpetoors 375,500Km -
No major repairs - diff bearings will be replaced at 375,650Km

6) Craig AKA Mountain Man - 347000Km I bought my truck in Zambia and it has
had a hard life, so I have replaced a few things during routine and not so
routine maintenance. But I have found you have to keep on top of the little
things and then it's doens't catch up with you.

7) Johan AKA Striker - 367580 and still going strong!

8) George 343 000 km - motor overhauled

9) Floris AKA Silent_Hunter - 334000, My 2000 Hilux 2700i het 334000 Km, en geen probleme nie.

10) Eric aka Family_Dog - 303,000km - Bulldog had some 303,000km on him and the
original 4Y motor was still running strong, albeit with a bit of piston slap.
As the Korean engines were so cheap at the time (R7k), I replaced the engine.
I have since had the original 4Y completely overhauled because at the time I was
unsure of how good the Korean engines actually were, but so far no hassles although
the new engine has barely since done 10,000km.

No other mechanical repairs were necessary, although Bulldog now has a full OME suspension
kit and I did replace the front disk brakes with a set from Power Brakes (also worthy investment)
and we replaced the rear wheel bearings at the time of installing the ARB locker. The gearbox is
still perfect and has no play at all.

Is this thread only for Hilux's?

I've got a 1986 Isuzu KB2200d LE 5spd SWB with 587000km odd. Still on it's original motor, although the glowplugs were replaced at +/- 400000km. The gearbox received some work, as well as the diff of which the crownwheel and pinion was replaced. Still being used as a daily runabout on the farm.

1998 2,4 petrol (s/c) next service 340000km.

At 310000 replaced timing chain for the first time, decided to do clutch, rings and bearings at the same time, then my problems started with excessive oil usage. Problem was finally diagnosed as glazed cylinder walls. Job was redone at no cost to myself. Since then it is A-OK and oil usage in 10,000 km is zero.

Plan on re-doing the engine again at 600,000km – all part of my preventative maintenance program!

I can join the club from Namibia: 1986 D/Cab, 435 000. Since 2000 the Lux had a tough life. Most of the time I renew things upfront as I can`t afford a failure in the bundus. Engine has been overhauled, gearbox repaired, trsfr case exchanged (unnecessary), second dif at the back, wheel bearings several times renewed, power steering overhauled (the pump not yet). Chassis broke in the front and front axle got cracked on the front (both could be welded). Springs were exchanged several times. I think the 4Y models were of the best Luxes Toyota ever built!
