Bearing replacement help

Post by WayneMan »

I need to replace a right rear wheel bearing on my 2005 KZTE 4x4.
I don't know where to get it done and what parts to purchase. Ive had conflicting suggestions on what to buy. I've been told to get 2 collars, inner and outer seals, the bearing and a rotar.
Others have told me there are 2 bearings and only 1 seal and no rotar. So I'm not actually sure what to get and where to get it.
One shop told me to bring the old bearing and they will match it?!?

I'm new in Cape Town, near Montague Gardens area.
Can anyone recommend someone who can assist with this, and what parts to buy. Thanks

Take it to Allan Venter in Brackenfell - 0seven2 one29 1one60.
He will also recommend the best place to get the parts, and that you should probably replace both.

The difference in the bearings and rotor will determine if you have ABS or not .The rotor will be the pickup for the ABS sensors.

Thanks Tristin
It's at the rear with drum brakes. Would that still apply then? Doesn't ABS only apply to disk brakes?

If you look up your specific model number on one of the parts websites (https://www.japan-parts.eu/), you'll get a diagram with all the components. I've also had great help from the Toyota parts guys, who will tell you exactly what you need, even if you aren't buying
Happy trails

I just logged onto that website- very useful in terms of the parts and part numbers, and images and descriptions. At least I can now understand all the parts required and see what they look like.
Enter your VIN and wallah!
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi Wayne
You can speak to Jaco on 0604515714. He is in Krugersdorp and his dad is in Magaliesburg. They both do repairs and specialize in the SFA. They may work on the KZTE as well. You can mention that I referred you to him. He did the complete front diff on mine, new bearings and seals.
