Please could the clever guys assist.

Post by Neilrodeo »

I drive a 2008 30 D4D Fortuner.
About a week ago I literally freed into the garage. Filled up pumped it a few times and of we went.

After about a 200km trip it started to die at robots if idling too long.
It started getting worse yesterday, to the point where it only starts when someone is at the pump and another turning the starter.

If it starts it literally looks like it get switched of after a few seconds

Things I have done:
Replaced diesel filter
Started it and reffed it - still cuts out.
Sucked the pipe form the tank, diesel does come through, but not too easy....you have to suck.
Took of pipe from filter too pump, only fuel when pumping.... have not sucked on that one yet....

Any help would be appreciated or a contact close to Alberton.

Thanks in advance!

Air getting into the lines? Add a piece of clear hose between the tank and the filter to see.
Happy trails

My brother’s D4D did exactly the same. Replace the diesel filter unit. It comes complete with a new filter too and it is surprisingly affordable.

Mine does the same. It is sucking air into the system at the diesel filter. There are o-rings there that dont seat properly. Replacing the filter will sort that out.

Hi all,
Replaced the complete filter housing, had the pump redone.
Got a reader and it gave B2799 immobilizer fault....

Is there a way to bypass the immobilizer or to whom can I take this pain in the backside to get sorted round Alberton please?

Surely you should be able to flash or bypass the unit.

Thanks in advance!
