Some questions on the 2.4dg6 and purchasing

Post by Neg10 »

Greetings all.
Hope you are well?
We will be purchasing 6-8 new Hilux 4x4's for a business. the vehicle of choice so far will be the Single cab 4x4 2.4GD6
They will be used mainly off road, long sand roads and with mountainous terrain. MUD will be a massive factor! Some loose gravel with some water crossings.
the long gravel roads will become MUD baths and Super slippery when it rains.

1. Will the 2.4's handle the Mud well with load and medium trainers?
2. The drivers will be hard on the throttle. How easy is it to pop the turbos on these vehicles?
3. will the 2.8s be better?

I've approached a Toyota dealer for quotes. but I know different dealers give different quotes. which dealer is generally the better one to deal with?

Thanks.

regards

Evening
The new hilux's 2.8 GD6 single cab only come out in auto, so thats going to be something else to think about.
My work purchased the very first GD6 2016 model and we now on the legend 50 and due for upgrade next January. They all seem to have the same problems with the exhaust manifold leaking.
The drive train on these hiluxs are extremely strong and a decent set of tires im sure will do a treat in the mud.
The work vehicle we have is the 2.8 with a iron man bullbar ,canopy, full iron man suspension and a constant load of 400kgs in the back ,with the coopers AT3. The vehicle has 160k on it and most of its life its living at 195KPH and harsh offroad In the transkei. For the abuse it gets, its never let us down.

Did you not perhaps mean 95 kmph instead of 195 kmph, Tristin? :D:
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Ask for the SR model (the mining spec) as opposed to the SRX. Same bakkie but with less stuff that can break or fall off. Does have 7 airbags instead of the 3 of the SRX.
