My motor mach has just hit me with the bad news that the throttle body unit on my 2001 KZTE is on the fritz, which has resulted in several performance and fuel consumption issues. Trouble is OE replacement past is around a wallet thumping R12000.
Is there perhaps a generic unit that can be recommended?

Ouch!
Can you not get a 2nd hand used one that's still in fair condition?
Otherwise have your existing one refurbished? (if it's the butterfly bushes they can be re-machined with brass inserts - Would be an engineering works job but I'm sure it would be a lot cheaper than 12K)

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
