IFS Hilux Bump Stop

Post by DSL »

Good day fellow Hilux owners.

I will jump straight into it. I have a 2010 hilux. I have a 25mm spacer kit above the front springs. I have broken the second link on the hilux after doing some axle twisters and wheel lifts. Can it be that the standard bump stop is not long enough? What must the approximate spacing be between the front bump stop and the plate it must stop against?

Thank you

To answer my own question.

Ok so after some research I got in touch with a suspension guy who stated that the problem is not the bump stop, but the spacer correcting the angle of the sway bar. It is evident that when the wheel is turned full lock the link touches or comes very close to the sway bar. When articulating this is even more the case and then eventually it brakes the link. There is a spacer available "sway bar drop kit" or "sway bar re-positioning bracket". This drops the sway bar with approximately 16mm and also moves it froward which in turn gives more space between the link and the sway bar itself.
