SFA Suspension

Post by GeorgeJvR »

Ok My LTD needs a softer suspension.

Old Man Emu is a great product but that price.... :shock2:

I have owned numerous SFA HILUXs with different suspension setups;
Pro-Comp Lovely ride but don't like the Liftblocks in the rear
Old Man Emu , Great all round
Cargo Springs did the set-up on my First LTD, Was quite stiff.
Iron Man .........

I Do not have experience with Mikem's Leave spring setup, I was quite happy with their coils on my Prado 90.

Any one wants to ad some options? and costing

What do you have in at the moment? Standard?

I cant give first hand commentary on Mikem, but from all the reports I've heard it's probably the best bang for your buck.

Then remember that the leaf packs are only one component of the ride comfort aspect, shocks are the other main component. If you have a soft spring rate in the packs but stiff shocks you're still not going to get a comfortable ride. Then there's the condition of those components that also play a roll ....

To have a chat with Daryl at Mikem isn't going to cost you anything, that might just be your first course of action. :winkx:

This is why you have a stiff ride. The extra blades with the harder shocks were probably fitted for extra over-landing weight. Pulling out those extra blades should already make a big difference.

No one seems to speak of the orignal Toyota shocks.
Is it not up to standard or is it priced is to much?

So it's not worth getting the agents shocks.

If you're gonna replace with standard shocks I would get a price from them anyway. Sometimes they get massive dealer discounts on "local content" parts which in the case of shocks may just be rebranded gabriels. In that case they might be very competitive in their pricing.

Had Emu in my 1991 DC Hilux and I could drive faster over speed humps than some of the new 4x4s, and for a leaf spring suspension it was a wonderful ride, have Got Emu leaf springs on my 81 Hilux as well.
