Re: Hilux 22r Brospeed
Just set it by ear ..... warm up the motor so that the auto choke is off, loosen the bolt on the dizzy and rotate the dizzy to the point where the motor runs the most free / highest revs at idle and find the "centre spot" of the high rev range (remember that with a longer duration cam the idle can be a little "lumpy" so you might want to use a tachometer if your ear is not that good). Nip up the bolt on the dizzy and take it for a run .... if it pings when under moderate strain then retard the timing 1° at a time - if it's still sluggish and not pinging advance it a degree at at time until it does and then retard by 1°.
You'll probably find the best timing position is somewhere between 12 and 15° BTDC (every motor is a little different).

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
