WHINING NOISE FROM FRONT WHEELS

Post by Alex2539 »

Hello there!

There is a whining noise from the front wheels(i assume) of my bakkie. (the sound is similar to that of a unlubricated fan belt ). It starts from 40km/h and increases with the vehicle speed. I am suspecting front wheel bearings or what can it be? . Vehicle 4.0 V6 4x4 2015 model

thanks for your help

I'm assuming that it's present irrespective of engine revs or what gear you're in. If so, then it's got to be drive-train related. A diff will whine from low through to high speeds, so it's not likely to be that. Wheel bearings will do pretty much the same and you would actually "feel" the fine vibration through the vehicle, so from your description I'm doubting that as well.

Of course I'm guessing by what you say, so the above should not be excluded as possibilities. It could still be a bearing in the diff. Maybe CV's.

Another thought .... What tyres are you running and when were they last rotated?
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Had a similar issue (but on a corolla!)

Ended up being aged tyres! Not worn.

Rubber was getting hard and caused whining at higher speeds
