Long trip just before service interval

Post by StuckInTheMudd »

What is one to do when a long trip is planned close to a service interval? For example, I have 2000km to my next service and my trip is 4000km.

Can I have my 40000km done at 36000km? How does this work?

Try to do your service on the trip, if you can. Rather earlier than later.

Otherwise, negotiate with your friendly Toyota workshop to have an early service done. I know Toyota will allow you to have it serviced on the service plan at 1500km before or after the service interval.

I had a similar problem a few years ago and the guys from Barloworld Toyota Kuilsriver sorted that out for me. Your next service is then right on the service interval again.

Whatever you do, do not go 2000km over your service interval. That is where you get onto thin ice with FSH and warranty stuff like that.. :shock2:

You mean in the middle of Botswana? :laugh2:

The service history and warranty is what I'm worried about. Although I always thought the window was 500km either side.

Anyway, Thanks Thys

Well okay maybe not at Baobab Motors ... But depending on how your route goes you can stop in at Upington Toyota for a service, or even Kuruman etc. That should bring you pretty close to your service interval.
