Best place to take a sfa for repairs

Post by NathanX4 »

Hi all

I have a sfa with a wl conversation in. The motor is great. The problem I am having is the clutch.

First time I installed a standard 2.7 clutch with the wl presure plate from the local midas. After about 8000km clutch shattered to pieces.

Second time round replaced with a special build clutch and presure plate from formula friction in edenvale. Had the flywheel skeemed aswell. After about 15000km clutch went again. After opening it up I noticed that the fork was to short and that it was pressing the thrust bearing skew which coused the bearing to seize which grinded thru the presure plate.

Third time in again got everything specially build and had them source me a better bearing. New fork installed which looked perfect. 500km later something went wrong again. On my way back from work the clutch peddle started vibrating with a knocking sound in sequence with the peddle thumping. Continued my journey home without pressing the clutch peddle.

Got home and noticed the peddle is extremely hard and now clutch at all.

Now I gave up and in need of a expert to help. Who can i contact to help. There must be something i keep on over looking as I need to find the problem.

Not sure about the pilot bearing, but i had the bellhousing at an engineering shop to have it machine straight.
I'm not a expert and would like to have someone with the expertise to have a look what is wrong and fix it.

Thanks

By the looks of it the clutch slave cylinder sits screw on the bellhousing. This can break the fork over a long time.

Then the bellhousing have to be checked, I might be wrong but looks if it thicker at the top than at the bottom, might be the photo.

Let me show you on my pic. A is wider than B.

If above will be the case your clutch wont last, this breaks the pilot bearing in time and this shortly after that break the input shaft of the gearbox.

The fork is fine.

Replaced the broken parts in the Gearbox.

Input shaft from Toyota really expensive, so we decide to use and modify it a bit to re use it. Some parts were engineered to suit.

This will be Input shaft bearing, Some minor keys on 3rd gear Syncro. Snap rings and 5th gear Nut. The nut is the longest to get from Toyota, they did not know it excisted. :shh:

Some snags on getting the right pressure plate for the new bellhousing but Nathan helped with that one.

I expain a bit more when the Box go in over this weekend.
