Actually looks cool... just don't like the curved load bin top edges... ala the Mitsu Triton...
Also very interested to hear what Toyota is going to replace the D4D with... the competition's diesels are streets ahead of the current D4D's!

It looks way to smooth for a production model, i think it's still a concept.
The Vigo was just as ugly and un-acceptable to most when released, but, like annything new, you get used to it and learn to like it.

Re: Die nuwe Hilux....Wat dink julle
forget looks for one seconds, try practicality, or the lack thereoff ...
HOW do you load stuff over such high sides ?? And NO, not everything gets lifted via the tailgate. Clearly designers have lost touch with reality ......
Steel bumper - same as so many of the makes already do .... draw a horizontal line, cut along the line, and fit the steel bumper below said line ....

I think that would be a half tonner.. maybe. In that pic the cab and bin is all in one piece, simular to the corsa and nissan. All the one tonners have seperate load bins and cabs.

Come on, it won't be that bad, the actual vehicle never looks like the concept, but i must say the "Banana boat" waistline is a bit over the top

Re: Die nuwe Hilux....Wat dink julle
When I bought my Kz in 2005 the salesman offered me a Vigo instead. To me it looked like an inflated corsa, with sides waaaay to high to be practical as a workhorse. In fact, I found it about as unattractive as most guys here seems to find this new thing...
I actually quite like the look of the nose. Sides too high for practicality, but it makes your truck look bigger than the other guy at the traffic light, so I suppose if you want to bully with looks, high sides are cool. But this must be a concept only - chassis flex under one tonne loads will pop the darn windscreen out the first time you go over a bump. Unless the pic is deceptive - to me it looks like a single body, bak and cab, a lá halftonner. It also seems to have a very long distance between front wheelcentre and rear wheelcentre, with "wheels on 4 corners", which sorta messes around with the whole offroad thing. Really hope they don't fall off the wagon like Mazda did, especially not with darn attractive trucks like the Ranger on the market. SA likes butch, not girly bakkies.

i think it's just a pic someone played with in Photoshop, Corvette wheels, no proper door handles headlights doesn't fit the body profile and there are almost no Toyota styling cues, i think it's one of those "virtual rides" people place in performance magazines

Agree with Hoppy.
I have always used http://www.netcarshow.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as the measure to look for any new models for any manufacturer, they are very accurate! As an indication, the new Rav4 was on there before the SA launch.

Re: Die nuwe Hilux....Wat dink julle
I really hope that if this is it, they will still keep the current hilux as an option, I honestly can't see this off-roading, farming nor a contractor's workhorse...
surely time moves on and there'll be another new market interested in this one, but too "space" (up in the clouds, not volume) oriented to my personal likeing

Even Me! I don't like it!
The front looks like a baby Sumo Restler.
But it's interesting to see the market evolve. The soft SUV's are all sexy, well styled and have all the bells and wistles, and the competition is rife in that bracket. I've believed for a while that Toyota's Styling has done it no favours the last bunch of years. People have lots of choice now days, and it seems we're being steered away from wanting to own a vehicle for a long time. I don' teven think most people keep a car for more than 3 or 4 years these days. (present forum excluded obviously).
Look at the Ford's these days they're shaking the market up big time. I've seen plenty people flipping there Vigo's for the new Rangers.
I'd so wish they could bring the US Tacoma's and Tundra's to SA. We'll all have to sell our homes and everything we have to enjoy them, but I recon they're awesome...
