Most irratating thing with your Lux

Post by Maddoglips »

Hi All

As it's clear, we all have our love and passion for our Toys whether they old, new, sfa, ifs, we love them to bits, but with this there's also always some thing that is just never as we want it/ would like it to be.

Mine, is the rust, I hate it with a passion, and can't understand why motor vehicle manufactures have never really done anything major to try and prevent this.

They've spent millions on suspension upgrades for comfort, gearboxes for better ratio's where alot of the time it wasn't a problem. But never rust protection!

So lets hear what's yours.

PS. Not the luxury/image add on items you'd still like to fit like ali canopies ect.... just the "stock" items which are supplied.

Zane

The SFA's useless reverse lights... brakes... and my lux's incurable wandering steering...

Oh and yesterday one of my wiper blades decided to jump ship in Durbanville, clearly it had had enough of all the work it had to do over the last few rainy days...

The reverse light upgrade is now on my top 5 pending mods list...

Just did a 10 day/4000km trip through the Kalahari and Nam in my 2.7.

All I can think of is that it would be nice that if I switch off the van the central locking will open the locks.
Otherwise no complains

Zane
No news yet ... thought I saw it yesterday freshly re-sprayed hummer yellow, but I was unable to turn around and pursue due to traffic congestion ... will see it again though and check it over ... if it is mine, they'll *a* for what they did ... a Hilux ain't yella at all!

She never had any of the issues you guys speak of .... drove like a car, ... comfortable on and off road ... nice positive power steering ... an aircon that really worked well ... no brake or light issues ... gave me between 10.5 and 11 km / lit on the open road, between 6 and 8 in town depending on the foot. Damn, I miss it!!

If you see it again and it is yours, find out where it's parked and let me know, I'll spend the R1000 on petrol to come join you in getting it back.

At least I know the goverment will pay for my trip back to pe as it'll be in the back of a police van once we finished with them.

Will be worth it

I once heard a rumour that the Vuvuzela was invented by an ex-Springs Technical Highschool pupil. I cannot confirm this to be true.

My biggest irritation is all my crap sliding through the bench seat   ...its a quick fix, I know, but still. Second to that the headlights and the 4x4 low range lever, always need to kick it back into high range - cant be good but what does one do.

Eric, the vuvuzela originates from the blowing of a hollow kudu horn to get the blokes in the hills to come to an indaba. These days I'm sure a cell phone works just as well with a lot less irritation

Swartvark doesn't have a hooter. It was never connected to the aftermarket steering wheel. I now have to rev people out of the way!!
The lighter fitting came out when I unpluged my Waeco.

I hardly ever use 5th gear....NOT ENOUGH POWER!!

Work takes up too much of my life....I need to spend more quality time with my truck!!.........and wife.

James, Bulldog has excellent headlights! Have you tried Osram Nightbreakers, or even Silverstars, which are more durable than the Nightbreakers. Also, what condition are your headlight lenses and reflectors? You might consider replacing them if these are clouded or tarnished.

I can imagine the crowd at Soccer Stadium all flashing their cellphones in support of BB... creates a most interesting picture in my mind!

Evidently the vuvuzela originated from a guy that took one of these bicycle horns and removed the airsack. Not being satisfied with the sound it made when he blew through it, he had it lengthened. When he went abroad to support his soccer team (not sure if it was Bafana Bafana) they would allow him into the stadium with the aluminium vuvuzela. On his return he found a plastic company to manufacture him a plastic vuvuzela.

Apparently this is debatable since Mexican fans already used a similar instrument in the 1970's ... hmmm. I would also have to wonder about all the paintings of horn blowers from the medieval ages that had an almost identical shaped horn with a flag attached.

Nonetheless, here's an interesting little read .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vuvuzela" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Hyundai and a local South African advertising agency called Jupiter Drawing Room created the largest working vuvuzela in the world — 114 feet (35 m) long — on an unfinished flyover road in Cape Town.[25] The vuvuzela is powered by several air horns attached at the mouth piece end, and it will be blown at the beginning of each of the World Cup matches.

Is this actually happening? What sort of noise will that make?

This my third model Hilux, and Im even more irritated with this as I cannot see/feel the rear end of this vehicle. Ive had the bumper knocked and replaced and now Ive totalled the left rear panel, reversing into a low pole marking the driveway of our property.(pole has since been removed) I dont believe in fitting crappy cheap/good looking 2mm. pipe bumpers! This will not make any difference. Spose I must just improve my driving skills!! The wife loves this one though - rubs it in all the time!!
