There is a mysterious rattle sound in the rear of the cab, that is only audible when driving, and only sometimes....Grrr! Otherwise she is PRRRFECT!

My problem is that my Lux is faster than the rest of the traffic and it feels like the rest are suffering from Africa time when on the road

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux
My Lux rattles, shakes, is noisy, slow, handbrake is useless, brakes are useless, I need a new spline every time I go over a speed bump, lights not that good, rust, going to buy a kidney belt tomorrow,... But I absolutely love it! Do not ask why, I just do!
My girlfriend hates it, maybe because she gets less attention or because the vibration hurts her feet (shame).
You build a bond with your vehicle which you cant explain and others dont understand.
My Lux is just perfect!

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux
Complaints, complaints complaints - whats with you ppl :problem:
it's a HILUX:
1. they're slow - get over it or do what it was made for - taking in the scenery
2. SFA's are a hard ride - on Tar - they were designed "to go anywhere"
3. They're heavy on juice - big vehical to take ALLLL our bagage
4. Creaks and noises - wouldn't you have creaks going places that are difficult to get to
5. Brakes - what for slowing down not to hit the traffic 1km ahead of you by the time you get there the traffic is gone anyway - it's all behind you
once you have re-read this post add on the positives and ask yourself why complain if it's that much of an issue sell it and get a LR
but thats just my 2cents worth

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux
A Hilux is the best, if you have a problem with it sort it out and it will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Had some big rattels - replaced the rubbers between the chassie and the cab: no rattels.
No power 4y - replaced nikki carb with jetta carb now she has power not V8 power but spins in second gear on the tar.
Hard ride - it's a bakkie. 4y - hard, 2.7 - hard, 3l kzte - hard, 2.7vvti - softer
Now if I can get the 2.7 vvti interior into my SFA it would be today's best selling bakkie.
I love my SFA and drive it every day.
I also like the SFA clique - when driving around all SFA drivers will greet one another. I think we must get our selfs a special Hilux wave.

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux
Right first of all looking through these four pages one thing is clear the complaints are minor. If you placed a post like this on a LR sight the complaints may have been muuuuucccccchhh longer and included a lot more mechanical issues.
if I need to list some complaints
1. Headlights - eish specially the dims?
2. mmmm nothing else.
no a list of like
1. How much time do you have cause this might take a while

Complaints?! If freedom and the urge to find the biggest hole to climb in and out of or the need to take the road less travelled then I think we should take this up with Toyota... Or maybe I should just shut up

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux
Not much wrong with the Trusty Hilux.
I only have 3 minor complaints with mine, maybe someone can help me solve them too.
1. The handbrake, cable seems to stretch in no time, I readjust and not long after I am pulling the handle up to the roof.
2. bollie Head lights, I honestly expect the brights to illuminate further. I think Adding spot lights or projector headlights (http://www.sportbakkie.co.za/extimages/ ... lights.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) will be my only solution.
3. The rattle from the back seat, I have managed to sort it for now but its the second time I do it, it wont be long till the back rest of the rear bench starts rattling against the rear wall.

That it is standing in the parking lot at work amongst all the other city cars. It does n't belong here...wide open spaces and the veld are home.
Drove to Kgalagadi and back over Christmas, badly corrugated roads in the park. Only problem was the brackets on the left front indicator housing broke off. We only saw the light dangling out when we stopped at a picnic site. Fixed quickly with a piece of wire. No other complaints.

1. Brandstof verbruik (ek moet seker stadiger ry)
2. Agter sitplek wat rattle

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux

Gatswaai at speeds above 100 on corrigations unladen has scared me shitless a cpl of times now getting the slag will be changing rear shocks when they need replacing.
Other than that just love the bakkie as is first petrol I have owned and been pleasantly surprised now if only it was a dbl cab as our son was born last year and now need the room.
p.s. am currently considering swopping for dbl cab but its a very hard decision as am convinced I have the neatest 99 in the country with only 75k on clock!

Re: Most irratating thing with your Lux

I tried to get Kaspaas stuck in the sand on the weekend to test some recovery equipment, but I couldnt. I had to dig 4 huge holes to get him stuck... Gerrie suggested that I use a Tata in future..

The most irritating thing; everywhere you stop someone wants to buy it
