SPCA - Westonaria

Post by Ali3n »

I have just received an e-mail from a friend who informed me of the situation at the SPCA in Westonaria. This is where my wife grew up and thus is quite close to her heart. Sure they are not the only one with problems but we I feel we can make a difference.

They receive no funding from the government and are completely reliant on donations and so on. They are barely keeping up as it is with around 200 animals. Costs are extremely high as you all know. Their average monthly fuel bill is around R4000.00p/m, Vet costs around R5000.00p/m and just to keep the place running is around R45kp/m. They have a small shop where they sell some of the donations they receive.

Here is a basic list of things they require.
General office supplies
Cleaning materials/chemicals for the kennels
Dog / Cat food
Toys for the animals
Blankets
Etc.

Now I would like to ask for a few ideas of how we could maybe help them out should anyone be willing. Possibly a fund raiser or a raffle or something like that. Any ideas welcome and then we can work from there.

Thanks guys!!

Well we (Hilux4x4 Club) did help out Bridgestone...
So why not contact them for a set of tires and then raffle them off at R50 to R200 per ticket Im sure we will get a gr8 response on this forum for a tire raffle....

The raffle can run for say 2 months and then close off with Bridgestone giving the tyres to the winner at the SPCA...... Get the newspapers there and it will be a feather in the Bridgestone & Hilux4x4 Club caps.......

Not gonna happen from Bridgestone. In my experience if it doesn't result in the direct sale of tyres then they are not in the least bit interested. Just the usual corporate bullshit, and what with the economy...

Lemme see what I can do. Will speak to Andre re other suppliers too
