AAWDC - Charity Run 4 June 2011

Post by OOOOMS »

1) The charity of choice is the South African Red Cross.

2) Donations can be delivered to any LA Sport branch nationwide, before or on 4 June. Each branch will have a collection point available. See http://www.lasport.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for branches.

3) 4x4 clubs should arrange their own meeting point, then travel to the nearest LA Sport branch before 12h00 (13h00 is normally closing time). Or meet at the branch, at a set time. This is at the club’s discretion, and to be arranged by individual clubs.

4) Thereafter, the club members can decide how/where to proceed. Regional clubs are urged to hold joint events, to foster inter club relationships.

5) For Gauteng, and near Gauteng, clubs – the Main meeting point is the LA Sport Pretoria East track (site of last year 's AAWDC Fun Day). From 10h00 to 14h00. A shortened track will be set up, which can be driven, at a reduced cost . Longer drives are also available, at normal cost of R280/day

. LW – The LA Sport Branches in Gauteng will still be normal collection points like the rest of the country.

6) The Nissan 4x4 club will Marshall the agreed obstacles from 10h00 onwards, to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles. One attempt per obstacle only, to speed up proceedings. Decisions of Marshalls will be binding upon all participants.

7) Club gazebos, flags, can be put up, on the rim of the quarry, on a first come, first serve basis. Sites will be demarcated with banner tape. Only 4x4 vehicles will be allowed to park around the track , all other vehicles to park at the gate.

8) Club vehicles to park facing the quarry, in rows radiating out from the quarry, for the 14h00 ‘most 4x4s in one place’ photo.

9) The track will close its gates for further vehicle entry at 15h00, and all clubs/vehicles to vacate the site by 16h30.

10) Clubs are urged to ‘kuiken-parade’ their area of all rubbish, on the ‘take out what you bring in’ principle.

11) Ablutions will be provided.

12) All clubs to supply own food and drinks.

13) Excessive consumption of alcohol is frowned upon, for the safety of all attendees, and other drivers on their way home.

14) We request that club members stick the A4 flyer up in two of the side windows of their vehicles, and perhaps the rear window, to provide a rolling advertisement for the day.

Should have had Hilux do it, and not Nissan.

I'll go drop something at LA Sport East Rand next week.

For Gauteng, and near Gauteng, clubs, who will congregate at LA Sport East facility.

1) GPS co-ordinates of the site are S 25 d 52’ 06.54” E 28 d 25’ 25.96’

2) The cost for driving the marked track/obstacles, will be R 100 only for the day, payable before entering the start chute of the track, as agreed with LA Sport East. Approx 13 obstacles will be set up.

3) Venue gates off Lynnwood Rd ext/M6 open from 09h00, track driving starts from 09h30.

4) Cars/platkarre to be parked at the main entrance gate, to ensure space for 4x4 vehicles at quarry rim.

5) Each club will be allocated a space, dependant on the club’s number of vehicles, to ensure sufficient space available. Please advise (where possible) the number of vehicles attending per club.

6) Club site & parking to stretch back from the quarry rim, two bakkies wide, to erect the clubs’ gazebos, put up flags, park their vehicles in.

7) Food and drinks on a BYO (bring your own) basis, by each club, for its members, and as giveaways to other club members, in the spirit of giving. Also for giveaways to non 4x4 drivers, who may join us on the day.

8) Toilets will be provided by LA Sport East.

9) All drivers to please line up behind their club site by 14h00 sharp, for the ‘most 4x4s in one place’ photo, from across the quarry.

10) All clubs to please remove all own rubbish brought in, to keep the site clean after use.

Many thanks

Sincerely

Nissan 4x4 Club – events co-ordinator

Vaughn 082 8022 890

All your support is appreciated, next year it may be the Hilux4x4 Club's turn to host the event

Hi Guys, just some feedback on the day's events:
A well organised event by the Nissan 4x4 indeed, supported by LASport

Only problem, was imho poor turn-out of feet

The Nissan crowd are quite a pleasant, mature bunch of guys (where was Oooom Mac - Kagiso :?: ) We had plenty of laughs and good fellowship!

Thanks to the guys that attended and supported the Red Cross, who also thanked all the people that donated and supported, countrywide
