Yeah, it looks like she's bored but she loves this stuff, the rougher the better. I get flack for days after if I don't let her know when I'm going to play. Quite unlike Sheridene, who sometimes goes along just for the sake of it ... says she gets tired of tramping imaginary brakes all day. :D:

The SFA is a '98 LTD. It has rear difflock as standard but I only used it on the axle twisters and in the sand. ;-)

Speaking of LTD's and imaginary brakes...had my fair share last night. Drove in a LTD with a newly fitted 1UZ, pure sweet sounding awesomeness!! Had no problem making 32" muds squeal on tar...but a stop sign can grow too big too fast

Dylan's van has just recently been fitted with a 1UZ. Awesome sound as you say, and plenty enough guts as well .... he would 'idle' up some of those obstacles while I had to rely on revs and momentum, particularly since the 22R still has that 'warm' cam that robs the low end grunt (still have to do something about that - maybe a 1UZ might be better than a vernier cam pulley  ).

Also looking for excuses (and money) LOL..

Mine also has the hot cam still in, but the dyno chart surprisingly revealed quite a bit of low down torque, but that could be the EFi.

My Mickey mouse lights where put on for a trip through the Transkei. I intend mounting them lower once I relocate the winch relay box in front. But I must say..... Mickey takes me where I need be and where I don't need to be....

Andy doesnt mention this, but he nearly put his LTD on its side in the first obstacle as he had to use a bit more momentum to get up it. But good for him keeping his foot in it. Any lesser experienced person would have been polishing a few dents out.

The exit at the top of that obstacle is not a straight line, it's a slight turn to the left as indicated. The hump (circled) on one side and ditch on the other is what threw me over ... the left slider bottomed out along that hump as well. It was the only time my daughter raised an eyebrow. Pity Dylan never got a snap of that moment ... I think he was either in momentary shock or busy backing off. :D:

Hi Andy

Are you telling us guys that you actually had to select low range in your bakkie, would it engage the low range gears, after all the cob webs that are under your truck from parking in the garage?

Why do you not arrange a get together for this place for the guys from The Eastern Cape? You can make your daughter the person that makes the route, thus is she gets scared then we know when to back off.

Nice pic's and I see that at least Dillion managed to keep up with you in your awesome Hilux, it is interesting to see how various vehicle's compare to other vehicles and long wheel base to a short wheel base over the same terrain operate

Ha ha! Truth be told I think mine still sees more action than yours!

The thing is that it's private land but the owner doesn't seem to mind that the guys play there ..... we pulled up a lot of pegs / spikes that were left behind by someone that that had an 'event' there and marked out a course ..... probably the bikers / quads because some places were too narrow for a vehicle. But ja, I suppose we could arrange some play time there. (I want to see if your bakkie still rolls over so easily! ).

Well it depends which lady is sitting next to me, tell your wife she can drive with me, I am not a reckless driver, I just take things easy and nice, I am scared of side angles and I am sure that we will get on well together.

Andy have you heard of the outing to Ferndale this coming weekend?> I heard that there are a huge crowd going from PE and East London, the last time I checked there were over 17 or 18 vehicle's, just a bunch of people meeting up for a weekend of fun.

I am thinking of going down as well but I have to also go to East London for work as well and things are going to be tight.

Ferndale can be a bit rough and I would prefer to go with a much smaller group. To do it properly one should sleep over and do it over two days, but it's another option to look at (was considered to be in the top 10 4x4 courses in SA a year or two back).

Just bear in mind that some sections are potential vehicle bashers and require diff-locks as well as a serviceable winch ("Difflock Alley" and "Boxkloof Canyon", both are a definite grade 5). I don't think you could do "Adrenalin Hill" (side camber) with that top heavy spare wheel on your carrier. :D:

Oh come on now, who do you think was the person is that named DIFF LOCK ALLEY ? Have you driven up Diff Lock Alley or did you prefer to rather go down it instead? There is that nice huge rock sticking out near the top.

Where is this Adrenalin Hill is it on that easy rode that comes out near the spagetti play pit or that steep hill section that has only broken and bashed vehicle's down the side that have no made it.

That is where Lyn James poured some concrete in the ground to connect your winch to, I have been there, but I came from the top and when I saw how it decended I just made a 30 point turn and went back up again, I might have big balls but I am not stupid

You guys need a V8 and maybe some p!nk balls. The blue ones are bruised and battered. Been to Ferndale once. Had to eventually bail out coz I got tired of the family screaming, " No! Don't kill us! I want to get out! Stop or I'll kill you!". The French was removed from that quote....Point is I'm game!

There is a bunch of guys going there this weekend, at the last count it was round about 18 vehicle's, not too sure if the V8 's will keep up.

Dillion are you still servicing The Porsche's at your place, we are waiting for that new Twin Turbo S to arrive in SA, the launch is in September this year in Frankfort, they only offered us about 530 for the Cayman S thus we will just keep it for a town car and the Benchmark will be for a nice slow country drive on Sunday afternoons.
