I was bored....and tried Meth....

Post by antlo69 »

So yesterday me and a friend was bored and we installed a Methanol/ alccohol injection system in my D4D.

We used the smallest jet with the minimum amount of spray but wow, what a difference. Especially low down, it pulles like a steamtrain.

Next step will be to have a better set-up with a higer pressure pump and bigger jets.

We've done two, wow, what nice toys, the bigger the jets the better and the best is, it drops engine temp and EGT's

We moved the nozle to before the intercooler and not after like the kit says, that coole the cooler and makes even more power.

We used Methanol and water 50/50

I also placed it just before the intercooler.
Would you say there is a improvement running with water compared to 100% methanol?

Curently ave a 0.8mm jet, what size did you use Hoppy?

BTW...bring on a T6 3.2, no match

We went up to 2mm, but the tank empties to quick then, i think 1mm is good for everyday running

Yes, I have copied my design from a Honda Civic yesterday that produces 500hp. So it will work wonders on a Petrol motor as well.

I want to design a system that gets controlled by your throttle I.e when you accelerate hard or when overtaking, it injects automatically the full allocation and with normal driving it must be deactivated or injects only about 20%. If this make sense.

My goal will be to have a system setup that have injector type jet, one per inlet port that gets boosted by a separate fuel pump for a finer mist. Will build a aluminum tank (about 5lt) over the weekend.

And of course the other option will be to run this setup trough your EGR port. Then you kill 2 birds with one stone for even more efficiency and performance.

I will discuss this with my friend tonight over some tea and let you know about pricing. We used parts that was lying around in the workshop so its difficult to tell you prices.

Tea's no good. You're gonna end up with an English (read Land Rover) solution. It will leak oil.

 We could discuss it over few brannas and coke but then it will break down over the weekends and you could only do burnouts and drifting with AT tires. So I will stick to my "tea" rather.

Dit was 35's en die KZ enjin sonder Methanol, ek het nog nooit methanol op hom gehaat nie, ons het n 2.8 Colt injector pomp en n groot intercooler op, dis al.

Bump Bump Bump :?:

I just came across this and very interesting.
I am looking to fit water/meth injection on my 2.7 but struggle to find the correct information.
Allen can you give me some more info please :beg:

I have an SC with 5th injector for petrol on the charger but want to inject water/meth before the throttle body.
They say it does bring down the EGT and gives you a bit more power.
I was looking at some controllers but does not really know what way I must go.
What controller, what pump, what injector??

If or when I do it I can do a write-up

Fitted meth to my turbo GTi mainly for the fact that it reduces temps, as Hoppy says.
Power increase is noticable but with a bigger turbo and very high turbo boost it is advicable to go the meth route.
As far as I know the meth only starts spraying from 0.8bar boost on my kit - or you can just switch of the meth system with a button, when it is not needed.
Negative side is definitely the mixing meth with water and topping it up regularly.
I chucked my 1.6L meth canister - now using the factory fitted 6L window washer bottle  works much better
