Anyone recognize this vehicle and trailer?

Post by freeflyd »

This was at Baines Baobabs in Botswana on the 20th of December last year. I would have loved to help them, but there was no-one in sight. The winch was pulled out all the way, and still about 70m short of the closest dry land.

We went to the Nxai Pan Gate (35km away) and they did not even know about the vehicle. I would love to know who it was, what happened, and what was done about it.

Wow that has got to suck :!: :( If it were me I would have first of all not got my self into that position and if I had been thick enough I would have everything I could to get it out even if it had taken days :!:

Agree, just because you drive a 4x4 does not mean that you can go anywhere. Good sense should be the guide here. Was there no alternative close by that they could have taken? What gets me on this story is that he was alone and towing a trailer (twice the reason why you should twice) m2cw.

I know of this guy....

He eventually got some help from a group of passers by - he used two lift balloons beneath the vehicle to dislodge it, and was able to drive it out. After hearing about this, I have also invested in at least two air balloon car jacks... good stuff.

It was a Cruiser Pick Up....

We spend about 2 hours looking for them, but could not find anyone.

On our way out, we saw a convoy of 5 vehicles on their way in. Mostly Hiluxes, and we told them about the car as well.

There is one road for the dry season, and one for the wet season to get to Baines. On T4A the North road is the wet season road. These guys were on the dry season road...

We do a lot of overlanding on our own. We don't have a trailer, and we really don't take chances. I assume this guys would have learnt from this...

Never said that, it's just a bit harder to get stuck. I've got tons of pics where my cruiser is stuck and I'm very proud of it, it takes real skill to get a modified croozer stuck
As I always say "if you don't get stuck, you're not trying hard enough"
