You will need 'transformer oil'. I have seen it at Builders Warehouse. Depending on the seize of your welder will determine the amount of oil. A very small welder uses approx. 1l, larger welders require 3-4l.

Push a 2.5mm welding rod down the breather hole, like a dipstick. It should have about 10mm of transformer oil showing

There is usually no need to top up unless it's leaked out. if you overfill it will come out the little o/flow - breather when the machine gets hot.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Leave the oil cooled welder empty and store it under the bench then go out and buy yourself an inverter welder.

Thanks Guys
Scooter...in time man in time.
Myself and WAken (member here) picked this one up cheap and the plan is to learn to weld.
Once we know the basics maybe an inverter one, but this is fine to learn.

Some oil leaked out during transport so will check with the "dip stick"
Thanks guys appreciated

Hi .There were a big discussion on the one of the previous threads about welding machines.I will say this now as i said it before, you will not get a better welding machine than a oilcooled machine. You can buy the transformer oil from any oil company.Atlas oil,Flexilube,Tecknilube,Cera oil and there is a lot of them.Fill your machine to about 30mm from the top so that the whole transformer is in the oil.For R2500 that you will pay for a DIY invertor, you can buy a 250amp oil cooled Tonco from Mica and it will last you much longer.
