offroad bumper
I did the rear one to gain some angle(no cost involved), then built the front one. Cost was R700.00 as I had 3mm sheet lying around. I made the winchbox first (one day it will be filled )and made a lid for it.To that I attached the wings of the bumper. I moved the intercooler to the front under the winchbox, and installed a 4mm belly plate.
I have taken pics through the build if anyone are interested.
So can I enter it into the "best looking HiLUX" on the forum

Re: offroad bumper
Dit weeg 42Kg. Ek het die neus se hoogte gemeet voor en na, en die verskil was 4mm laer. So ek dink nie daaraan om die tortion bars te stel nie. Dink jy ek moet iets verander?

Re: offroad bumper
gewoonlik sit die ouens ander shocks op en stel die t-bars op omdat hy die ekstra gewig dra maar ek weet nie of jy dit doen as did bb meer as x kg weeg nie

Jou voor shocks gaan nou dalk net bietjie vinniger klaar raak.Niel wrote:gewoonlik sit die ouens ander shocks op en stel die t-bars op omdat hy die ekstra gewig dra maar ek weet nie of jy dit doen as did bb meer as x kg weeg nie
Op my single cab was die standaard shocks VROT toe ek hulle op 73 000km uithaal.
So ek dink beter shocks voor met so bumper is nie n slegte idee nie

Niel, as jy sê ander shocks, wat sal dit wees? Ek gaan die spul uittoets by Piet Retief se Reenboogfees Saterdag met die 4x4 kompetiesie.

A Project for the New Year
Do you have any dimesional drawings and stuff you'd be willing to share
(I hate to re-invent the wheel everytime nê)
One of the best home made jobby I've seen in 2008, well done Piet

Re: offroad bumper
Thanx Eric. It comes with a cordless remote but I don't trust it as it can trigger the winch from anyware accidentally. So I mounted a switch on the dash for winching. Also I've mounted solinoids over the battery fuses (rear 102Ah batts & starter battery) that operates with the winch to stop them from blowing by the high current that the winch uses. Also a diode to the national luna solinoid positive, to use as an automatic winch over ride.
Anyway, it works
Anyway, it works
