My box

Wanted to do this in Afrikaans, but the title would not have passed muster....

I use 2 vehicles for 4x4 driving, the D4D Hilux for long distance driving and the Jeep for trails and weekends. It has always been a hassle when I pack all my recovery gear, tools and stuffs from one car to the next so a while ago I built a plywood recovery box to hold all the goodies nicely together. Just 2 problems... 1) it was heavy and 2) it wasn't waterproof. These problems were quite serious, as the box travels on the back of the roof-rack on the Hilux and in rain storms, all the stuff inside gets wet.. Also, getting it up there was a 2 man operation at best...

Along came Ciske from Gomad4x4 and made me an aluminium box. 2mm smooth aluminium plate, bent and welded and waterproofed. I spent some time on the weekend fitting dividers inside and decorating it on the outside... This box is going to work.. It is light enough that I can lift it on top of the Hilux by myself... and it fits nicely in the Jeep..

Wil jy nie dalk so bietjie details gee van alles wat daarin is nie. Dalk kan ons ander leer en sien wat nog kort by die gewone kits..

Buis silicon...... ag en nog so ietsie van die en ietsie van daai.

Daar is nie n complete recovery kit in nie, maar genoeg om my voertuig weer mobile te kry....

Die slange ding is meer 'n joke as enigiets, en ek sal dit sekerlik moet cover as ek hoop om deur 'n grenspos te gaan sonder enige hassles.. Maar hey, as dit een nuuskierige agie weghou dan gaan ek nie kla nie..

my pomp pas ook nie in 'n ammunisie kardoes nie...en met 'n high lid kry j nie al di goete saam hom daa in nie...

my huidige kit is minimaal...pas alles in 'n staal ammo kardoes, kompressor ry ma in sy eie sak...

My hele doel van die oefening was gewees om weg te kom van 3 of 4 klein sakkies en blikkies om goed te vervoer. Hierdie boks moet van die Hilux af net so in die Jeep kan gaan, en weer anders om, sonder dat daar iets "vergeet" word by die huis..... Dis makliker om 1 boks te onthou as om 3 te onthou.....

Oulike handige boksie Thys. Jy sou baie van die spanners kon uitskakel en met 'n Leatherman vervang, vir meer plek vir kos en dop. Maar jy se jy wil hom vir die Jeep ook gebruik....................................
