Hilux Vigo Storage Problem

Post by shiv17 »

Howzit guys

I use my hilux on a daily basis and the problem is that there are no 'out of sight' storage areas where i can keep my laptop, the girlfriends shopping bags etc. I do have a canopy but do not want to tint the windows so dark that i cannot see when reversing.
Was thinking of getting a canvas, vinyl type cover, sort of like the tonneau cover that would fit over/within the loadbin while the canopy is on...
Has anybody done this or know where in Durban I can get it done?

Hi Shivaan

I know the feeling. storage is a problem. on the sfa you could lift the back of the rearseat and put stuff behind the seat. The Vigo does not offer that luxury, but the lower part of the seat lifts up. I have read somewhere on another hilux forum that you can jippo the back part of the rear seat to lift up as well. I am going to try that out once I get a chance. will let you know how it goes.

Put a pic up for Shivaan, Neil.
I feel a lot less wise at 45 than I did at 15.

Apparently cut the two "L" clasps on the back wall of the bakkie by about an inch, and when the rear rest drops when you lift the seat, the rear rest will be free. Seen it done!

I myself have a centre console safe for my gps, wallet etc. (Arne makes them here - search the fred) he also is the one who modified his back seat.

Will get the rear seat modified when I get my sound installation done. Problem is that the space behind the seats would be used for my amps and sub. I have seen the organiser that goes behind the rear seat. Looks good, but what happens when I have items that are bulky that needs to be put out of sight...

I have my amp under passenger seat in the front, and slimline box at the back leaving a little room for "stuff" should I need it

The organizer can be removed, by simply pulling it out of the Alli rail when not needed.

Looks good Neil. Was contemplating putting the amp under the seat but then again I will be running 2 amps, 1 dedicated to door speakers and one for the sub. I think the best option for me would be a canvas cover within the canopy.
