Thanks Roger. I want to build a aluminium canopy when the budget allows but for now my fibre glass canopy will go on and hide the water tank

Unusual it is Paul, but water is heavy, so ideally it should be stored as low as possible to try keep the COG as low as possible. I also wonder if an area like behind the rear seat or up against the cab side of the load-bin would'nt allow for better packing ability and space saving. ;-)

Hi Andy. Thanks for your feedback.
I am experimenting with a few different locations at the moment, this tank was salvaged from an off road caravan and the dimensions do not allow much in terms of mounting options. I have had it on my roofrack for a while and although heavy have not had any problems, having said that I have not tackled serious obstacles with it on, but general off road driving it worked well. I initially wanted to look at putting it under the vehicle but do not have sufficient space. In the future I want to build a canopy and would then probably look at getting a tank that allows for more flexibility.

Probably the best location I have heard done was a custom built stainless tank that fitted under the vehicle in the space opposite the fueltank. Of course this would depend on whether or not one has a fuel tank modification already taking up that space. Nice and low, out of the way and doesn't take away any packing space.
