Land Cruiser 76 kitting

I'll post on this thread as I go along, there is the usual things to do on the van and as I pulled out most of my kit from the D4D I can get started this weekend.

Here is the to do list:

1.Fit the second battery and CTEC Dual, the bracket is in place under the bonnet
2.Fit the various 12v DC plugs for fridge, lights, solar panel and 3rd battery at the back
3.This goes hand in hand with the plugs, I am not keen on making holes in the vinyl side panels, so I am thinking of making aluminum ones. I will store the vinyl panels. But will see how it goes.
4.Drawer system. I am not forking out R9k for a drawer system, the plan is to buy the drawers loose from Frontrunner, build an aluminum frame with connect it blocks (got the material) and use 1meter sliders for the 2 drawers and fridge on top
5.Roof rack and rooftop tent

That is what needs to be done with a couple of small jobs for Gerber Canvas

Got to get it done, I really would like to do Kgalagadi soon

Klink my jy speel LEKKER :)

1, 2) vat jou tyd, en onthou die fuses ... :siffler:

3) begin met n GAT in die fender vir die snorkel ... daarna raak dit makliker om nog gate te boor .... :tease: :mocking:

JA, ek hou ook nie daarvan om gate te boor in my wa nie !!

4) ONE meter sliders ..... have you got space for 1,2m sliders ..... free, gratis en forniet .... (jy moet net vervoer reel van die Kaap tot Jo-ies ... SEKER hier is n member of drie wat kan help)

Dit het diens gedoen in Elders 1 ... word nie nou gebruik nie ....

5) gaan leen solank n roof rack by n taxi ... :tease:

the next step is getting the NL 50lt weekender on a slide, but SWAMBO is a shorty and if the fridge is to high it will be a good excuse for SWAMBO not to get me a beer, so I am going to do a tilting slide.

Someting like this, please share if you have a better idea

Jis time to update this tread.

So from my original to-do list this is where I am at.

1.Fit the second battery and CTEC Dual - Done, but I fitted the NL split system, not too happy, might go CTEC after all.
2.Fit the various 12v DC plugs for fridge, lights, solar panel. - Got the roofrack on so will store the solar panel under roofrack.
3.This goes hand in hand with the plugs, I am not keen on making holes in the vinyl side panels, so I am thinking of making aluminum ones. I will store the vinyl panels. But will see how it goes.
4.Drawer system. I am not forking out R9k for a drawer system, the plan is to buy the drawers loose from Frontrunner, build an aluminum frame with connect it blocks (got the material) and use 1meter sliders for the 2 drawers and fridge on top - DONE  but I will be making some changes to the fridge slide, its a bit noisy with the NL bracket for the fridge, I'm going to pull that out and use tie downs.
5.Roof rack and rooftop tent - Roofrack is on  now I am waiting on the tent.

I would like to get all this done way before December, but things are very expensive. In between all this I have to keep SWAMBO happy and I have the trailer :wth:

So most of the things to come will go in the roofrack; gas bottle, water tank, 2 x jerry can, recovery crate, sand tracks, RTT, awning, lights, shovel......

here is where I am at now, still have to fit the water tank, recovery crate and gas bottle. The rest I have to buy.

Hi Whiteley and co,

Just want to add you can purchase aluminium with fabrication services from Aluminium Trading in Edenvale. They help many travellers this time of year with caravan mods and repairs as well as custom canopy fittings and fabrications. Check them out here: https://www.aluminiumtrading.co.za

Otherwise if you are closer to the Natal region I have heard (no experience) there is a company called Aluminium Doctor that is very good to.
