Diff lock mod

Post by Ou toppie »

I have a cruiser bakkie
It seems that some of the newer Hilux's use the same diff center portions
So someone here may have tried what I want to do

The later model cruiser bakkies have electric locking diffs. My older model has nothing

Are these center pieces inter changeable

In other words can I buy secondhand center pieces with diff locks and just bolt it into my diffs ?

I am sure someone must have tried this already ?

Pieter, check with the guys on the Cruiser Club forum, but I'm pretty sure Toyota would have come up with a cunning plan to foil what would have been a simple process.
Crooza VX 80 efi - fully locked.

I know the L/C 79, the Shape just before the L/C70 the old SFA Import diffs was the same THAN THE FRONT OF THE L/C79 DIFF.

Now, just replacing the centre portions wont work, you have to get the whole 3rd member, casing, motor, centre portion, Ringgear and pinion with bearings to fit onto the axle.

The newer Hilux front diff wont work on the Cruiser, it will fit the Prado.
