DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
The Standard Aluminium plates or run boards that comes standard with the Hilux was just not enough and on a ordinary 4x4 day at Groenkloof they got bent and bashed to hel. I then decided to built my own after seeing what the cost in the 4x4 shops was. It took me 2 Saturdays and R940-00.
The direct use of force is such a poor solution to any problem, it is generally employed only by small children and large nations.

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
Should look at putting recovery points in the ends and maybe hi lift jack points.
Looking great though.

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
I thought about it but decided against it. Built it plain to do just that what they are meant to. Nobody ever uses the rockslider recovery points and i already have the ARB bullbar and rear sparewheel carrier bumper with highlift jack points.

Very nice, I like those brackets, nothing will bend those brackets. What wall thickness does the pipe have?

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
A few times now,I've seen how they attach a vehicle to the rock slider,to hold it stable, while pulling with another either from the front or rear.Sort of a pendulum system.

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
Baie mooi!
Maar as ek ry is daar n rattle. Toe kom ek my fout agter, die cab is op rubbers gemount en beweeg apart van die chassis en skuur en stamp dan teen rocksliders se brackets.

Daar is oorgenoeg spasie. Op die foto sal jy sien dat die top-punt van die bracket level is met die chasis self en onder die deur is die bracket seker so 30mm onder die body.hendrik.earle wrote:Baie mooi! Ek hou van self bou.

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
War-Medic,
Did the bracket just slide pass the diesel tank?
I want to build my own as well and this is the only issue I saw.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DIY Rock-sliders for my Hilux
Yes it did but you have to weld the nut to the bracket because there is no space for hands or tools to hold it between chasis and tank.Arie wrote:War-Medic,
