Electric switch box......

Post by WayneSchalk »

For my old man's camp trailer I built a box to switch between batteries and charge supply.

How this setup works is we have 3 inputs to charge the batteries, 220v via a trickle charger, 12v from the alternator when traveling or the solar panel.

Then this will output to 2 deep cycle batteries, but this has been setup so that at all times so that one will give 12v supply and the other will charge.

Everything at this stage switches automatically in terms of input to charge, for example if 220v is available that takes priority and will charge from there, if not available it charges from the solar panel and lastly the alternator.

the only manual switching to be done is which battery gets charged and which supply current.

That will also be automated, by a friend who is building a pc board that will switch between the 2 batteries when the one reach a low voltage level.

Looking good  Only comment is that you might wanna cover the solar panel while driving so that it would switch to charging from the altenator.

THe solar panel is disconnected during travel as there is no space to fix it to the trailers permanently, jy moet die een nog uit sit in die son en in prop.
