Holiday project: Center console

Post by niclemaitre »

Hi

On a recent longer than usual trip I realized just how nice it is to have some storage space in the cab besides the cubby hole and that a cupholder or two would be nice. So I started to plan a center console. It needed a storage box/armrest, a place to mount the VHF, two cup/Coke can sized holders and a larger hole for my Nalgene water bottle. I had some 8mm marine ply sheet lying around so that's what it is made of. When it's done I'll get it upholstered in grey vinyl to match the interior trim.

Here is the design:

Pictures of the finished, not yet upholstered console will follow soon.

Nice job Nic. I am also busy with mine at the moment, nearly the same but made a mold and fiber glassed one. Lot of work but nice to have in the long run. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Thanks for the offer but currently I have a little fridge between the seats which I am quite happy with and got one of Pieter's tranny covers for the other odds and ends. So for now I'm good

Still need to get some closed cell foam to insulate the "floor" of the console from the heat of the transmission tunnel but other than that, it's done :yahoo:
