Mabuasehube March 2014

Post by pduminy »

Hi

We recently returned from a trip to Mabuasehube.
We were in 2 cars, my suster and brother-in-law (Wynand and Elsabe Krone) in a Hilux double cab 4x4 and my wife and I (Pierre and Estelle Duminy) in our Mahindra Scorpio 4x4. My offroad trailer was stolen 3 weeks before the trip so I had to rush and get a roof rack fitted and solar added to my car. I actually did the fitting of the solar controller and the wiring on the first morning of our stay at Mabua.

We camped at Mpyathutla No2 from 22 to 27 March.
Here are some photos of the trip.

On the first day we traveled from Roodepoort to McCarthys Rest. We decided to take the Molopo road as an alternative to the normal Kuruman way.

This had us a little worried but we decided to carry on. Turning around wasn't really an option.

After a good night sleep at McCarthys Rest we were through the border in 10 minutes flat. No checking of fridges and car documents. We did a quick stop at Tsabong for diesel. We took some Pulas along and this was a good choice as the bank card facilities wasn't working at the garage in Tsabong. Then it was on to the road to Mabua.

We were woken early one morning by the roar of a lion. We decided that the lions were at the water hole. We were right...

Very nice Pierre!

We were there in 2011 (Khiding). At that stage it seemed as if they were going to try and do something to that sand road between Tsabong and Mabua gate. There were heaps of white stuff (gypsum??) next to the road. From your potos it seems the raod is still very sandy? Any progress on the "rebuilt" of the road?

It seems there are always lion at Mpayathutlwa

Cheers,

Chris
