Do any one have snow chains? would like to see a picture of them. and would like to know how they link the chain.

Don't have any pic's but apparently a company called 'pitstop' stock them. They have branches all around the country. www.pitstop.co.za. I have seen they link them with a fitting similar to a chain link that screws open and closed. Not sure what it's called. Will send u a pic.

If I were going to do this myself I would use 6mm chain and approx. 50m and fit it using the spare wheel.

Any other suggestions?

I don't see the point... don't snow chains melt quite quickly? or do you keep them in the freezer until need? :shifty:

The ones I used to have had a hook and lever catch that worked something like a canopy clip, they would pull tight on the tyre when clipped and could be adjusted to fit a few different tyre sizes snugly. Loose fitting chains are not ideal. Besides the tyres slipping in the chains and not giving optimum performance, a slipping chain can do damage to the tread shoulders of the tyre. :wink:
