Heater Valve Stuck

Relating to Johan's post on Aircons not working efficiently, Bulldog's heater would not adjust, yet the cable and linkage felt fine, with a resistance to operation of the lever but the valve itself would not budge. I bought a new heater valve. But then I noticed how easy the new one adjusted by light finger pressure, yet the old one was jammed fast. As an experiment, I sprayed the sliding portion of the old heater valve with Q20 yesterday, and left it.

Today, the heater was working! The Q20 loosened whatever was holding it stuck and I've kept the new unit as a spare.

This is the heater valve on the older luxes. The newer ones are plastic and looks slightly different but sits at the same place.



I believe some guys used golf ones as well as a replacement. Just ensure your cable is set so that the valve closes all the way otherwise it will be lekker hot in the cab all the time.

On my 4Y the heater valve developed a small hole due to rust and a new one Toyota wants R850 for! Seeing that our winters is not cold enough for a heater, I simply blanked off the outlet pipes on the motor and I do not have a heater anymore.

Shorty is fitted with a pirate VW Heater valve, also of plastic.

This one has a problem in that it does not open or shut fully, not enough swing on the lever to do so. Must admit I haven't played around with it to try get more, we've not had that many cold days this Winter. Common sense dictates that if I drill a new hole lower down the shaft, I would have more leverage... not so? (It's a long, long time ago that I did Physics at School )

Sorry to bring up such an old topic, but I got myself one of those VW pirate valves at Good Hope Spares. But I don't seem to have that clip that holds the cable in place. Do you remember if you got yours with? Or did you use an old one or get it somewhere else?

Stephan, have no idea. Bought mine at Autozone and the mechie fitted it during the next service. He adjusted it and it worked well so never really paid close attention to it. Shorty is now doing staunch service somewhere in Witbank.

I miss him, should never have sold him.

Takes a little mucking about with Amayamas website .First off i find correct part number for my model vin year etc through diy toyo site . Has pictures too verify
Go to Amayama.com match vin etc . unfortunatly no pictures . Order parts .
