Cleaning airvents on Vigo - Guide

Post by Die$eL »

I recently figured out while fiddling that it's possible to strip the Vigo interior airvents into individual components to clean.

They get REALLY dirty when off-roading and look aweful!

Now that I have cleaned mine out I cant explain how much better the dashboard looks! A little thing like this makes a Big difference!
Here is the before pic:

Anyways, so here is how I did it.

For the centre ones, you need to pull out the knobs which control the air temp and fan speed etc. (within the red scquare on the first image) The middle one has a screw holding it. Remove that.
Thereafter pull that entire console and it comes off.

For the side vents you simply pull them out.

Use a small screwdriver to unclip the highlighted clips on both sides

This removes the surround from the vent

Next, just push the highlighted clips out

Do the same for the set of inner vents

now you can clean all of the components.

i suggest doing one vent at a time so you have a reference when re-assembling everything.
The little bits and bobs are not as fragile as you would think, but still be careful when working with them, they are still plastic.

Here is the finished product.

Thanks Nishan, any picks of the center console removed? Must the radio unit first be removed?

now that it is clean - get in the habit of switching to "Re-cycle" for the air vents as soon as you go onto dirt. :)

every so often on dirt, when not in somebodies dust, I just open both windows to get some fresh air into the Lux.
