BMW Front Seats in 1988 SFA Hilux DC
BMW Front Seats in 1988 SFA Hilux DC
Looking for advice guys!
My driver's seat is in a pretty sorry state.
Instead of having it re-built I'm considering taking up a mate's offer of 2xBMW Seats (ex 635CSi we think)
The seats are leather, heated, motorised and have integrated seat belts (come out of the side of the headrests) and are in immaculate condition, R1,8k for the pair.
Anybody tried/succeeded in fitting such animals??
Would love to hear from you before I pass-up/buy white-elephants :D
Thanks Guys
Rich

Re: BMW Front Seats in 89 Hilux DC
Hi Dad
Check with Cookie Monster, IIRC there is only one model of BMW seats that will fit in the Hilux as the rest are too high.
Good luck.

There are 2 types of 6 series seats the old type with spring bases they were fitted to the E24 and the new seats tha are fitted to the E63 which is the new 6. They are foam based both old and new had electric operation and belts mounted into the seat backrest.

Re: BMW Front Seats in 1988 SFA Hilux DC FITTED!!!!!!
Found a few spare hours today and got around to fitting the Driver's Seat!! :D :D :D :D
Fitment was pretty straight forward, had to space them up slightly to avoid the underslung motors from binding on the floor pan, otherwise they are MOOI
Am fitting the passenger side at the weekend (vir de vrou!)
Any one interested in seeing some stage-by-stage photos
Will post an Article if anyone thinks it's worthwhile
Otherwise, THEY ARE SERIOUSLY COMFORTABLE, love the infinite motorised EVERYTHING :!: :!:
Thanks for ALL the advice Cookie

Re: BMW Front Seats in 89 Hilux DC
Nice looking seats and it lookks very comfortable
Re: BMW Front Seats in 1988 SFA Hilux DC
REMEMBER EWALD - these seats come out of a 2 door soft top so they are designed to have a very narrow footprint and are contoured to allow max rear passenger access and legroom. (see 'manual tilt' photo)
No loss in leg room or height and electronics give much finer adjustment than standard seats.
More centre console space as seats are a little narrower than standard. :D
I'm a short oke, so my rear passengers (infant seats) don't suffer any. They have a contoured leather look hard shell backing (as per usual BMW Upper Spec).
They sit lower than standard Hilux seats and motors capable of lifting seats 150mm upwards.
When Manual forward tilt lever is depressed the motorised headrest retracts to avoid contact with roof and windsheild (designed for a rag-top application), a very nice touch! :D
Seats have a 3 driver position Memory and the buttons above the Manual Tilt Lever are 'Express Slide' (designed for the two door BMW) allowing excellent access to the rear. Seats and headrest then return to their original position when upright.
AND - should you be 'caught short' and can't pull over, an Integral Motorised Incontenance Potty appears to collect your 'deposit' followed by a short descreet bidet spray , 3-ply paper wipe and Glade Deodorising Spray :o ! - JOKE (but maybe a future mod )
Hope this answers
