Ek was die vakansie in Upington, en dit was nie lekker nie, Niemand kyk vir my hilux nie (geen tweede kyk'e nie), almal ry groot Cruizers en Opgeboude HIlux'e, ekt soos n Golf in Parow gevoel, anyway......

Ek raak toe aan die gesels met die tegniekus by Mega World oor Lockers, reg, die gewone local diff kan mos nie nou n ARB vat nie, dus G-max. dit aanvaar ek, maar....

Vraag 1, wat maak die local swakker as die import? Is dit nie local diffs wat in alle ander fabrikate gebruik word nie? en word daardie voertuie nie oorlaai met hulle G-Max diff lock nie, is terme "beter as die local diff" net op Toyota standaarde?

Vraag 2, wie het al, of weet van n local diff wat gegaan het? met n G-max?

Vraag 3, is die ratios van (bv n 2.8D) in local en import dieselfde? kan ek my local vevang met n import? en dan, gaan die voor en agter diff dan saam werk m.b.t ratios?

Vraag 4, is die voor diffs van alle SFA, dieselfde? en watse locker verkies hy?

Hulp sal waardeer word.

do I have an "import diff" being an import vehicle and all.

Ek sal graag ook die antwoorde wil lees.

Ek probeer sin maak van die Hilux se geskiedenis, spesifiek t.o.v die diffs: wat, wanneer, hoekom.

Ek verstaan dat van die Toy diffs eintlik Dana diffs is?

Nee, import diff, beteken nie die hele voertuig is in gevoer nie. ek weet ok nie die geskiedenis agter die termenologie nie.

Eenvoudig is net, die import diff het n diff "deksel" agter die diff wat met 8 boudjies vas gedraai word, waar die local diff nie een het nie, om aan hom te werk moet jy die "diffhousing" aan die driveshaft kant van die diff. (Ek dink dit is reg so om, die manne wat weet moet my maar reghelp)

jy het dit omgedraai boet 'n die import is die origional Toy diff met 30 spline sideshafts wat ook dikker is en nie die dop agter op die pampoen het nie. Die local ene wat van omtrent 93 iewers af gebruik is (omtrent dieselfde tyd toe die loadbins verander is na die ligte onder die tailgate in plaas van langs die tailgate) is die een met die dop agter. Dis die local vervaardigde gearmax ene en het dunner sideshafts met net 27 splines.

Bastiaan, onthou net dat diesels en petrol se ratio's verskil. 4Y is gewoonllik 4.88 en 2.4D-2.8D is 4.56. Maar daar was 'n paar wat die ratios omgedraai was. My opinie is dat die import diff (die een wat by die propshaft se kant oopmaak) baie beter is as die local (Gearmax) diff.
