The 4y did have a bit of a hesitation when you pull away, almost like a flat spot. After installing the McCarman the flat spot was gone.
The engine is much more responsive with the McCarMan Electronic ignition system.
This is actually more like a mechanical electronic ignition.
What it does is it uses the points only to switch several milli-amps and the milli-amp circuit switches the main circuit by means of an electronic switch.
So your points can never burn again and you cannot get a spark over the points.
It took me less than 10 minutes to install.
What you do is:
1. Disconnect condenser completely.
2. Disconnect the wire going from car to distributor and replace it with the purple wire from the module.
3. Connect the module's red to coil's positive
4. Connect Modules black to coil's negative (Instructions says you must remove coil negative completely, but I had to put it back in order to get rev counter to work again.)
5. Earth the brown wire from module anywhere on the body, I sommer earthed it on the coil bracket.
6. Start the vehicle and check timing.
I did not have to adjust timing again after I fitted it.
