Fitting new Riempies

Post by pietpetoors »

I am about to replace the riempies on an old chair.

I see the article below refer to "hard" riempies which you have to soak first in order to get them soft.
http://www.suzandy.co.uk/Riempie%20instructions.pdf

I however bought soft white riempies, not the hard ones.

Question now is, must I still soak it or use it dry and how hard can I stretch them?

Is the soaking only to soften the riempies or is it also so it can shrink and stretch more once dried?

Hallo Pieter.
